阴谋可以通过右键点击角色或者头衔来选择。某些阴谋也作为“推荐阴谋”被列在阴谋页面。

一个角色在同一时间只能主导一个阴谋，但是可以参与任意其他人主导的阴谋。绝大多数可以被随意取消，某些随意取消会有惩罚（例如剥夺头衔阴谋在发动后，选择认怂）。选择阴谋没有冷却期。具有{{iconify|incapable}}无能[[特质]]的角色不能搞阴谋，{{iconify|imbecile}}痴呆的角色不能选择某些阴谋。

对于大多数阴谋来说，你必须最少有一个同谋。在你找同谋的时候，列表中的每一个角色旁边都会有一个图标来显示他们对这个阴谋的参与意愿：

*[[File:Diplo_bribe.png]]：可以用一袋金币[[bribe|收买]]……（一个对你好感修正+100的角色也可能会被标记为这个，但是对他来说收买没用）
*[[File:Diplo_no.png]]：不愿意参加阴谋（花钱收买也不行）
并非所有的能邀为同谋的角色都在列表中给出。勾选“自动邀请支持者”将自动向每个愿意加入的角色发送邀请，即使他们没有在这里列出。

之后你可以通过[[decision|决议]]来执行阴谋。不过[[Assassination|谋杀角色]]的阴谋没有相关的决议，而是通过不时弹出事件来选择谋杀计划，同谋越多、阴谋力量越高弹出事件越频繁。

阴谋力量受阴谋类型的影响：
*军事类阴谋的阴谋力量与同谋的军事能力成正比；
*密谋类阴谋的阴谋力量与同谋的密谋能力成正比；

对于基于封臣的军事类阴谋，目标的封臣的阴谋力量是该封臣的可用征召兵和领主可用征召兵之比的两倍。同一王国的和目标同一等级的统治者贡献的阴谋力量无修正，而外国的同谋只贡献三分之一的该角色征召兵与目标征召兵之比的阴谋力量。

关于领主对封臣的阴谋，阴谋力量取决于某种和同谋者与他们领主的力量对比以及同谋者的密谋能力和目标的比值相关的数据，但是具体的公式目前还不知道。
